Connecting Instagram

Instagram is not open yet. This page explains why, and what to prepare so you can connect the moment it opens.

Current status

Not open yet — awaiting Meta approval

Instagram is locked in the platform list. Meta has not yet approved publishing permissions for the app, so even a connected channel could not publish anything.

We lock it deliberately rather than walk you through the whole authorisation and leave you with a dead channel — because that dead channel would still occupy a slot from your plan, and removing it keeps the slot held for 7 days.

Once Meta approves, Instagram unlocks in the list by itself; nothing is required from you to enable it.

What to prepare

Instagram only allows third-party publishing into professional accounts. Have these ready so you can connect as soon as it opens:

  • Switch the Instagram account to Business or Creator in the Instagram app settings.
  • Link that account to a Facebook Page. Instagram requires the link for every API operation.
  • Make sure your Facebook account administers that Page — see the Facebook guide.

When it opens, Instagram will accept Reels: vertical 9:16, up to 90 seconds, captions up to 2,200 characters.

In the meantime

A vertical 9:16 video built for Instagram works unchanged on TikTok, Facebook Reels and Threads. Same render — only the caption needs adjusting per platform.
